Dandeli does not have its own airport or major railway station, which puts some travellers off. In reality, reaching it is straightforward once you know the right gateway city. Here are the four routes most visitors use, with the practical details that actually matter.

How to Reach Dandeli from Bangalore, Goa, Hubli and Mumbai

From Bangalore (480 km)

The drive from Bangalore takes roughly 9 to 10 hours via Hubli. The standard route is Bangalore, Tumkur, Chitradurga, Hubli, Haliyal, Dandeli on NH48 and state roads. An overnight bus or train to Hubli, followed by a 2-hour taxi to Dandeli, is the most comfortable option. Trains like the Rani Chennamma Express drop you into Hubli by morning.

From Goa (125 km)

This is the shortest approach. From Panaji or Madgaon, the drive takes about 3.5 hours through Ponda, Molem and the Anmod ghat into Karnataka. The stretch through Molem National Park is scenic and mostly single carriageway, so plan daytime driving. Many Goa-based travellers combine a beach holiday with two nights in Dandeli.

How to Reach Dandeli from Bangalore, Goa, Hubli and Mumbai — detail

From Hubli (70 km)

Hubli is the practical hub. It has an airport with flights from Bangalore, Mumbai and a few other cities, and a major railway junction. From Hubli, Dandeli is a 1.5 to 2-hour drive via Kalghatgi or Haliyal. Pre-booked taxis run around ₹2,000 to ₹2,500 one way; shared cabs are cheaper if you are flexible.

From Mumbai (about 580 km)

Drivers typically take NH48 south through Pune, Kolhapur and Belgaum, then cut across via Khanapur and Haliyal. It is a long 11 to 12-hour drive broken best with a Belgaum halt. By train, the Goa-bound routes that stop at Londa Junction are handy, since Londa is under two hours from Dandeli by road.

Nearest Airport and Railway Station

  • Airport: Hubli (HBX), 70 km from Dandeli.
  • Railway station: Alnavar Junction, 32 km away, with limited stops. For wider connectivity, use Hubli (60 km) or Londa (40 km).

Driving Notes

Road quality on the main NH48 corridor is good. The last stretch into Dandeli, whichever direction you approach from, includes forest roads with occasional wildlife crossings. Drive slowly after dusk. Fuel up at Haliyal or Dharwad rather than trusting smaller pumps.

Booking a Pickup

If you would rather not deal with multi-leg logistics, most resorts arrange pickups from Hubli airport, Hubli station, Alnavar or Londa. You can also arrange a drop to Goa airport on the way back. For stay and transfer options, see our resort page.
